A reappraisal of some favourite classics which we may read differently in the light of literary and social developments of the last few decades: Jane Austen, Emma (1816), Emily Brontë, Wuthering Heights (1847), Charlotte Brontë, Jane Eyre (1847) and Elizabeth Gaskell, North and South (1855). Please note that the end date is provisional, there may be a break for half term. Background reading is also required to fully benefit from this course.
