Heritage Open Day 2019

Suffolk Archives will be hosting a number of free events over the two weekends¬†and invite you to join us for this year’s festival.

Saturday 14 September

Suffolk Family History Annual Fair 2019, 10am-4pm, University of Suffolk, Waterfront Building, Ipswich

Come join us at the University of Suffolk for the free annual Suffolk Family History Fair on Saturday 14th September. Learn more about the records Suffolk Archives holds, the services we offer and our new office, The Hold, that is being built.

Launch of Ipswich Heritage Trail, 2pm, University of Suffolk, Waterfront Building, Ipswich

Guided walk leaving from Waterfront Building, University of Suffolk. Suffolk Archives has launched an app containing historical trails that users can follow, unlocking different points on a treasurehunt style walk. Learn about key sites in Ipswich, answer quiz questions, and see Ipswich change through time on a guided walkthrough of the digital trail. The app can be downloaded for free by searching ‘chronicle story trails’ in the iphone or android app store.

Family History Day, 10am-4pm, Lowestoft Archives in Lowestoft Library

Family History Helpdesk, 10am-3.30pm, Halesworth Library

Discover the famous individuals and families that put Halesworth on the map and learn how to trace your own ancestors for free. A member of Suffolk Archives staff will be in Halesworth Library and will be able to help you start your family tree, suggest sources and next steps. We will also have a small display about famous individuals from Halesworth.
