Suffolk Record Office has been nominated for a prestigious national award  – for its work to develop this new website and to integrate it with the innovative digital preservation system (‘Preservica‘) that sits behind it.

Preservica is safeguarding tens of thousands of digital images of the original Suffolk documents that we all enjoy.  Suffolk County Council is one of the first organisations to successfully integrate Preservica with a new website that will offer customers the ability to download images.

The Digital Preservation awards are bestowed each year by the UK’s Digital Preservation Coalition.  Suffolk Record Office is nominated in the category “Safeguarding the Digital Legacy” which celebrates the practical application of preservation tools to protect at-risk digital objects.

Judging should be complete in October, with the award ceremony to take place in November.  Keep your fingers crossed for a Suffolk win!
