Ray Whitehand and the owners of this important listed building, Anne and Steve Smith, will talk about its various historical phases their future plans. This will cover its construction in the 1780s, the conversion to four tenements in 1840, a 20th century decline into almost dereliction before its rebirth under the current owners. The lecture will be brought to life with stories of people involved, from the governors who ran the establishment, the inmates who lived and worked within its walls, to the somewhat eccentric lady who resided there in the 20th century. The results of recent research, which has uncovered an exciting and unique discovery within the site will be shared. There will be a question and answer session at the end.
