Private Harry Parr

25 July 1916
Pte H Parr s/no 18103 1st Bn
buried Struma Military Cemetery

The War Diary notes that Private Parr died of malaria and was buried on the 26th. Presumably he was buried close to the camp at Big Tree Well and then was one of the 17 graves later moved from there to Struma Military Cemetery.

Harry Parr was born in Snailwell in the summer of 1881. His father John was an agricultural labourer. His mother Amelia had died in Essex in 1898. The family lived in Snailwell, then moved to Fordham. Harry married Maria Stubbings in 1904 and, by 1911, Harry was a horseman on the farm and they had 4 children, although one had died aged 2.
