Suffolk At War, Lecture Seven- The Suffolk Regiment during the Cold War
During this week’s lecture we will examine the structure and deployment of the Suffolk Regiment around the world during the early Cold War from 1945 to 1964. This a period of British Army history characterised by the withdrawal from empire, national service and an increasing commitment to the defence of Europe. These are years during which soldiers from the Suffolk Regiment experienced the changing character of warfare in the jungles of Malaya, the mountains of Cyprus and the streets of Aden. It is also a period during which domestic political decisions had a profound effect on the Suffolk Regiment.
Please note that this event will be live streamed and recorded. Live stream ticket holders will have the opportunity to ask questions in advance.
