Suffolk Regiment Collection

The records of the Suffolk Regiment are held at the Bury St Edmunds record office and are available for anyone to view.   The full catalogue of the collection is available online.

The collection includes:

  • printed histories of the Suffolk regiment
  • The Suffolk Regimental Gazette (the regimental journal)
  • regimental diaries

The Suffolk Regiment collection leaflet has detailed information about the types of records that can be found in the collection.

You can visit the Suffolk Regiment Museum based at the Gibraltar Barracks in Bury St Edmunds.  There is also a Suffolk Regiment Gallery at the Moyse’s Hall Museum in Bury St Edmunds

Records relating to the First World War, 1914-1918

Records relating to WW1 (part 1) is the first draft of a resource list pulling together sources held by Suffolk Record Office and includes the following sections:
